Fables Books will host an author talk featuring Kiersten McGrath on Nov. 13.
The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the bookstore, 215 S. Main St., Goshen, according to a press release.
McGrath, an Elkhart County author, will discuss her book, “Let it Happen, He Said.” The book recounts her personal experience of being groomed by a high school coach and the subsequent challenges she faced, including dealing with secrets and anxiety.
The story aims to inspire others who may have faced similar situations, according to the announcement.
The event will begin with McGrath reading a passage from her book. Following the reading, McGrath will be interviewed and a moderated audience Q&A session will follow. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the book at the event.
“Let it Happen, He Said” details McGrath’s experiences navigating secrecy and trauma. McGrath shares her first-person experiences, offering insight into the challenges she faced and the choices she made during her recovery.
Many publications on the topic of sexual assault are written by professionals discussing the effects on others, the release said. McGrath’s book instead provides a firsthand account of her experiences. She does not shy away from discussing the complicated feelings that arose, according to the announcement.
