Bestselling Author Stephen Graham Jones to Speak at Longmont Museum The Longmont Leader
The Longmont Public Library will host an afternoon with the award-winning horror writer on Nov. 2, featuring a Q&A moderated by Lafayette Poet Laureate ZBassSpeaks.
The Longmont Public Library will host “An Afternoon with Author Stephen Graham Jones” on November 2 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Longmont Museum. Jones is a New York Times bestselling author, has written more than 35 works of fiction, and has won numerous literary awards. His book “The Only Good Indians,” won the Ray Bradbury Prize for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction. An intimate talk will be presented by Jones, followed by a question and answer conversation, to be moderated by ZBassSpeaks, Poet Laureate for the City of Lafayette.
Jones is a member of the Blackfeet Nation and is a celebrated voice in contemporary horror, according to the City of Longmont. The city said that his most recent works — including “My Heart Is a Chainsaw” and “Don’t Fear the Reaper” — have cemented Jones’ place as “one of today’s most inventive and powerful literary storytellers.” Jones is also a Professor of Distinction in the English Department of CU Boulder.
ZBassSpeaks is a multi-award winning indigenous spoken word artist who became the first Poet Laureate of Lafayette in April 2022. The Colorado-born poet has been speaking and performing in the Denver Metro area since 2008, and has a mission to speak on social issues and to promote unity, literacy, and creativity through poetry.
The talk presented by Jones will discuss horror, fiction, and his passion for the writing process. The program will also be followed by a book signing.
The event is free, but preregistration online is required for attendees. Currently, all spots are full, but interested parties can join a waitlist for the event to be notified if tickets become available.
