Join the El Paso Matters Book Club for a powerful evening of history, memory and cultural storytelling featuring author and historian David Dorado Romo. This free, public event will delve into Romo’s latest book, “Borderlands and the Mexican American Story,” which reexamines the U.S.-Mexico border through long-overlooked Mexican American perspectives.

Historian David Dorado Romo shares how teaching youth in South El Paso inspired his new book, “Borderlands and the Mexican American Story,” which tells U.S. history through Indigenous and Mexican American voices.
The “La Bamba” and “Zoot Suit” creator will appear at the Plaza Classic Film Festival, where he’ll reflect on art, identity and El Paso’s influence on his work.
The latest El Paso Matters Book Club pick examines the often-overlooked history of Mexican Americans in the U.S. Southwest – stories marked by struggle, resilience and hard truths that resonate today.
