La Porte County Public Library to Welcome Bestselling Author Marie Benedict in April 2026
La Porte County Public Library (LPCPL) is excited to welcome bestselling historical novelist and literary archeologist Marie Benedict for a special evening event on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at The Great Hall Events & Conference Center at Purdue University Northwest in Westville.
Benedict will discuss her forthcoming novel, Daughter of Egypt (March 2026), which tells the story of a young woman who unearths the truth about a forgotten Pharaoh—rewriting both of their legacies forever.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own copies of Benedict’s books or purchase one at the event from The Press, a local independent bookstore that will be selling books onsite.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Guests can check in, enjoy light refreshments, browse books, and find their seats. The author talk begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by a moderated Q&A, and concludes with a book signing.
Marie Benedict is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of eight historical fiction novels. Before becoming a full-time writer, she practiced law for more than a decade at some of the nation’s premiere firms. Her mission is to excavate from the past the most important, complex and fascinating women of history and bring them into the light of present-day where we can finally perceive the breadth of their contributions as well as the insights they bring to modern day issues.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Registration opens on February 1 at www.laportelibrary.org.
An Evening with Marie Benedict is made possible thanks in part to support from Health Foundation of La Porte.
