Heartland author to lead free workshop on self-publication

SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) – A Heartland author who’s published several books will lead a free workshop for aspiring writers.

People can hear from Sikeston author Jeff Williams at 6 p.m. Thursday in the community room at the YMCA of Southeast Missouri.

Williams said the workshop will have three parts: the writing process, publishing through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and an open Q&A session.

For anyone who can’t make it, Williams said his main advice is to be authentic.

“I would say just be yourself. You don’t have to take a 10-step writing course. You don’t have to have a Master’s in writing. Just be yourself. Have fun with it. Just be creative.”

This event is free and open to the public.

Williams said his latest works fall into the faith-based suspense category, called “Intercession” and “Intercession II.”

“It’s about a modern-day disciple who travels the country doing good deeds,” Williams said. “The book that I wrote previously was ‘Intercession: The Traveler and the Hookman.’ There was someone just the opposite of the Traveler…someone who’s evil, emotionless, a dark soul. So ‘Intercession,’ those two paths cross and their journey goes from there.”

Williams’ works can be found on Amazon by clicking here.
