The woman who gave us our beloved Princess of Genovia will make her to Westerville.

No royal invitation is required. The bestselling author Meg Cabot, better known as the creator of “The Princess Diaries” book series, will be hosted by the Westerville Library Foundation for Meet the Author and Wine & Charcuterie with Meg Cabot events Sept. 17.

Guests can look forward to a presentation of Cabot’s life and her writing — including her most popular creation of “The Princess Diaries” character Mia Thermopolis and her life of unexpected and chaotic royalty. Cabot will also discuss newer work, including “Educating Caroline,” her book that was rereleased in September 2024.

The presentation will also include an audience Q&A, book sale and book signing from 7 to 8 p.m. at Westerville South High School, 303 S. Otterbein Ave. Tickets are $20 and $10 for students and seniors ages 55 and older. Purchase tickets at westervillelibrary.org.

Prior to the presentation, Meza Wine Shop, 48 N. State St., will host Cabot for an intimate reception from 5 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $100 and there is a 40-person capacity. Proceeds will benefit the Westerville Library Foundation. Those who purchase tickets to the reception will also have access to the public presentation.

An Indiana native, Cabot published the first of the “Princess Diaries” novels in 2000. The series quickly became a bestseller and was adapted into a 2001 Disney movie starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews.

Hathaway announced on her social media in 2024 that “The Princess Diaries 3,” would be filmed 21 years after the sequel, according to USA TODAY. A release date has yet to be announced. The film is currently in pre-production, according to IMDb.
