Meet Newbery giants Katherine Paterson and K.B. Bradley in Shelburne

Two renowned authors are set to share their insights on writing and the impact of children’s literature during a special event at Shelburne Town Hall.
Multiple Newbery Medal- and National Book Award-winning author Katherine Paterson, known for writing “Bridge to Terabithia,” will join Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, a No. 1 New York Times bestselling author who has twice won a Newbery Honor, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 for a discussion.
The event, hosted by Flying Pig Bookstore, is free.
Bradley is known for her award-winning novels for young readers, including “The War That Saved My Life,” its sequel, “The War I Finally Won,” and the novel “Fighting Words.” Paterson, a Library of Congress Living Legend, is one of only four people to have won both the Hans Christian Andersen Award and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.
During the event, the authors will discuss their books, the writing process and the power of children’s literature to inspire young readers. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session and have their books signed by the authors.
Elizabeth Bluemle, owner of Flying Pig, expressed excitement about hosting the event.
“We are thrilled to welcome such an incredible powerhouse duo to Shelburne,” Bluemle said. “Their novels have inspired millions of readers, both young and old, and we are honored to provide a space for students, families and fans to meet them and hear them share their incredible humor and wisdom with us.”
Books will be available for purchase at the venue, Shelburne Town Hall, at 5372 Shelburne Road.
