For 35 years, the volunteers with the Brandeis National Committee Phoenix Chapter have hosted the annual Book & Author Event. Featuring New York Times bestselling authors and literary award winners, this event is a must for all booklovers.

The event will be held 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, 6902 E. Greenway Pkwy., Scottsdale.

Brandeis National Committee provides financial support to Brandeis University and its libraries. Since 1950, the Phoenix Chapter has hosted a wide array of programs, activities and events throughout the year, and provides community service volunteer opportunities in the Greater Phoenix area. Proceeds benefit the Engineering the Future Campaign at Brandeis University.

“Our Book & Author volunteer committee works year-round to bring in a diverse group of authors, representing multiple genres. We are proud that this event attracts an audience from all over the country,” said chapter Co-President Stephanie Klopper.

Featured authors and their newly released books are:

André Aciman, Roman Year: A Memoir. Aciman is a prolific writer and is best known for his book Call Me by Your Name, which was adapted into a movie. In Roman Year, he captures the period of his adolescence that began when he and his family first fled to Rome, after being expelled from Egypt.

Paulina Bren, She-Wolves: The Untold History of Women on Wall Street. Bren tells the story of Wall Street and the women who dared to enter the old boys’ club from the 1950s through 9/11. It’s a tale of trades and tradeoffs, sexism and strategy, triumphs, ambition and how women got into the game. It is also in development for television.

Fiona Davis, The Stolen Queen. Already on the NYT bestseller list, this book transports the reader from New York City’s most glamorous party, the Met Gala, to the labyrinthine streets of Cairo and the mysterious Valley of the Kings, and back, in search of a missing antiquity.

Stephanie Gorton, The Icon & the Idealist: Margaret Sanger, Mary Ware Dennett, and the Rivalry that Brought Birth Control to America. This book is a dual biography of Mary Ware Dennett and Margaret Sanger, who brought the fight for reproductive rights to the American public in the early 20th century.

Shelley Noble, The Colony Club. Set against the backdrop of Gilded Age New York, this historical novel is about the inception of the Colony Club, the first women’s club of its kind.

Scott Turow, Presumed Guilty. Described as a compelling, unputdownable legal thriller, this book explores the dark side of justice in a small town and on a fractured family. Turow, a former lawyer, is the author of 14 best- selling works of fiction, including his first novel Presumed Innocent, which was made into a movie and television series.

In addition to a luncheon with presentations by the authors, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase books, attend author signings and shop at an array of boutiques featuring unique vendors and artisans.

Co-chairs for this event are Patti Grossman, Ileen Herberg and Joellyn Pollock.
